Great White Shark – Scientific Name: Carcharodon carcharias
These awesome creatures of the deep are right up there on the top of the food chain and for good reason! They are the largest predatory fish in the world and can grow up to 6 metres long. That big mouth isn’t just for show either, it is equipped with 300 pearly white teeth which are perfectly designed to tear flesh from their prey. Their scientific name means ragged-toothed and their common name refers to their white bellies. Sadly, due to over fishing and being caught as bycatch they are are now listed as a vulnerable species.
