Orange-bellied Parrot – Scientific name: Neophema chrysogaster
The Orange-bellied Parrot is one of only three migratory parrot species in the world. Its breeding range has declined significantly in recent years and it is now only known to occur at Melaleuca in south-west Tasmania. During the winter months the bird migrates to the Southern coastlines of mainland Australia. It gets its name from a vivid orange patch on its belly.
